(Jon sez:) The FTL communications pulse happened on page 327 and knocked Caprice off the Martian network. The world has been knocked on its ear: 2003 UB313, a.k.a. the tenth planet, is larger than Pluto. I think that probably should make it a planet, although how are we going to fit "2003 UB313" into the mnemonic "My very educated mother just sent us nine pizzas"? Today I was watching CNN when the news anchor referred to the cretins who gather and sell personal cell phone calling data as data brokers. Since roughly the same niche in the information ecology in MoS is filled by information brokers, I'm going to spend the next year calling myself a technological prophet and charging ten thousand dollars for a speaking engagement. |
(Mark sez:) Okay, I have to get something off my chest. Here it comes. You know this comic thing here? These little doodles I help turn out from time to time? Gotta tell you, I am really enjoying doing it. So I'd like to say thanks to Jon for writing it, and to you all out there for reading it and saying nice things about it, and, hmm, while I'm here I guess to Vint Cerf and Tim Berners-Lee for this snappy little communications system it's distributed on. Thanks, everyone. That's all. |
