(Jon sez:) The script for this scene calls for a statue extolling the glory of the Communist People's Workers' Atmosphere Mining Cooperative. Such an organization would mine water from underground deposits and break it down for its oxygen with electrolysis. There are indications that there may be water underground on the Moon in permanently dark sites at the poles. More scientific study is obviously needed! Speaking of the statue, I also told Mark to design whatever he wanted for the statue as long as it looked suitably Soviet, so it could be extolling the People's Family Basketball Collective for all I know. It's kind of hard to tell from the pencils, because I need a new monitor. P.S. Who could that ominous figure in the last panel be? |
(Mark sez:) Yes, no color today. The reasons are too tedious to relate. It will get colored. You do get to see what an inked page of MoS looks like, though, so it's not all bad. Anyway, that's actually the same statue seen on the back of the 10,000 ruble bill. How's that for continuity! Also, though it's probably not possible to tell very easily, the building the Mads are standing in front of is the big hammer-and-sickle (moon-and-sickle?) tower at the center of Priozersk. I'm going to be out of town this week, so there won't be a new page of MoS on Thursday. We might have a special extra surprise for you instead, though. Then again, we might not. How exciting! |
