(Jon sez:) I bet you thought that the Martian vector shield technology was only useful for holding in atmosphere. Now we learn that it can also hold back water. One of the abiding sins in science fiction is the one-use technology. An example is lasers that can shoot through planets, but can't be used to set a level line or measure the distance to the Moon. Any technology eventually gets used for a multitude of things...although not always the way the inventor intended. Pretty much all of us have used a screwdriver as a crowbar, or a wrench as a hammer, at one time or another. It's the same with any other technology or tool. Even, presumably, weird Martian hypertech. |
(Mark sez:) I have to apologize -- when I said the new fan art would be up today I accidentally lied. It will be up next update for sure definitely. Other than that, I have little to add besides (as I pointed out to Jon) it's fortunate for all concerned that the scene ends before we have to actually show how exactly Sally is going to get them out of that hole. |
