(As an aside, I've never understood why some artists deny that classification so strenuously. Yes, MoS's art style is inspired by Japanese comics; is there a problem?) And all large spaceships in manga-style comics make "voo-oo-oo" noises or something similar. As an example, allow me to point to this scanned image from Kia Asamiya's gloriously incoherent magnum opus Space Battleship Nadesico. I'm just goin' with the conventions of the genre here, folks.
