(Jon sez:) Okay, first off: water quite probably once flowed freely on Mars. I remember when I was a kid, the 1976 Viking landers found no conclusive evidence that Mars had once been wet. I was disappointed, since all of us astronomy geeks had hoped the planet would harbor life - and a dry Mars made that very unlikely. Now, nearly three decades later, we have good evidence that Mars was once a watery planet. You can almost imagine the NASA scientists sitting around their conference tables and looking at each other thinking, "Was there life on Mars once? Is there life on Mars now?" All I can say is, I hope the answer is yes. There's big news in the comic, as well. For everyone who wondered (and for those several of you who wrote in and suggested you had determined the site of Doctor Haas's secret, undisclosed location), it can now be said: Haas was hiding on Venus! |
(Mark sez:) I get the feeling that arguments with Greta about how to hide some corpse or other are a relatively common occurance. Also note that she is holding a laser gun in the second panel. Because it's the future! (waving hands dramatically) Woooo-ooo-ooo-ooo! Um, yeah. Possibly I should go to bed now. |
