Your Writer: Jon Kilgannon Quantum decoherence is a weird part of quantum mechanics. In its most basic explanation, a particle decoheres when it collapses to one state due to interaction with its environment. Causing a large number of particles to take on two or more states, then collapsing them, would wreak havoc on matter.

A decoherence cannon is the kind of device which would be useful for destroying large objects composed of smart nanotech. Which then engenders the question, why would the Solar Navy have a secret weapon that's really useful against technology only the Martians have...?
